How does your hiring process work?

The hiring process for locum and digital locum jobs slightly differ, however, we will always start with a telephone consultation with one of our expert recruitment consultants to understand what you are looking for, gaining a clear understanding of your preferences.

After speaking to one of our consultants you will be required to send through all your relevant documentation, our consultants will assist in compiling your portfolio, compliance, and matching your preferences to the requirements of our clients in order to get you booked for locum shifts as soon as possible.

Can I still work as a locum if I am not registered with the General Medical Council (GMC)?

Unfortunately not.

In order to work as a locum GP in the UK, you must be registered with the GMC. Additionally, you must have the correct visa, work permit, and Right to work in the UK.

Please note that if you are a Hospital doctor, ANP, or other medical practitioner, there are other regulatory bodies that you need to be registered with (e.g. as an ANP you need to be registered with the NMC).

What paperwork do I need for the registration process?

In order to onboard with us, we are going to need:

As a minimum;

  • Your CV.
  • Your Right to Work (passport and/or residents permit).
  • BLS (within the last 12 months).
  • Your DBS certificate (on the update service).
  • Performers list evidence.
  • GMC certificate/certificate according to your role.
  • Clinical references from 2-3 years.

Can you provide sponsorship for healthcare professionals outside of the UK?

Unfortunately, we do not offer sponsorship for ex-pat healthcare professionals. Nevertheless, we work with diverse clients and might possess alternative opportunities that align with your skills and expertise. It is worthwhile to engage with one of our specialists to explore the available options. If you specifically require sponsorship, we recommend doing some online research or contacting agencies dedicated to sponsorships. We wish you the best of luck in your job search!

Can you tell me about the fees associated with your locum placement services?

Our services are completely free of charge. As a locum recruitment agency, we are constantly seeking out top healthcare professionals to fill our clients' open positions, and we do not impose any fees on job seekers.

How long will the hiring process take, and when can I expect to receive a response?

The duration of hiring processes can vary from client to client, but typically they take days rather than weeks. Rest assured that our team will keep you updated throughout the process, so we advise you to regularly check your emails. How do you handle background checks and verification of credentials?

If the role applied for requires a DBS we will either check this is on the update service or apply for a new one on the candidate's behalf. We will verify your credentials by taking a copy of your right to work in the UK documents. Additionally, we also check your GMC and relevant professional certificates on the Medical Performers list.

How would I know if you have recieved my application?

We will send you an email to confirm the receipt of your application. If you haven't received any updates from us, we recommend checking your junk or spam folder to ensure that our email didn't unintentionally end up there. Are there specific tax implications or considerations for locum doctors?

Yes, there are specific tax implications and considerations for locum doctors in the UK.

Key points to be aware of include

  • Pay as you Earn (PAYE) - has tax implications as your recieve benifits such as National Insurance and Pension Fund.
  • Payed as a Ltd - no tax implications
